For many of us, (if not all of us!) we are questioning many things right now, and the number one question that looms over my head is, what am I going to do when school starts? I myself have had many candid, honest and important conversations with my own family and friends surrounding this topic. And the answer I’ve come up with is simple. WHATEVER I WANT. Let me say it again louder for those in the back. WHATEVER YOU WANT! We are in a time of the unknown! There is no right or wrong way to survive in this time, and let me assure you, that is what each and every one of us are doing. SURVIVING. Has your child had a lot of extra tablet time? No worries, mine too! Has your child regressed in certain areas? YUP, been there! Have you been frustrated, feeling guilty, anxious and uncertain of yourself as a parent? Check, check & check! There is no right or wrong way to navigate this time, and only YOU as the parent(s) can decide what works best for your family. Throw statistics and the judgement of others out the door along with your trash from that week. Tell the Karens of the world to mind their own, and do what YOU need to do. Each of us have a different dynamic and worries. What I have come to realize in these past few days is that NO ONE has it all figured out. We are all going from day to day, trying the best we can with what we have. I have learned that I need to share my thoughts, ask for advice and be open to new ideas and most importantly have GRACE with yourself. Take each day as it comes and know that you are not alone. Do what you need to do in this time, and change your course if you have to. The same lessons we teach our children are ones we need to learn right now as well. Dare to be different & set your own course if you are not. Make your own rules, and surround yourself with people that can support your choices, no matter what they look like.
